Dorea

A shared gift list for the people you give to.

Keep a list of what you’d love. Your family keeps theirs. Everyone quietly claims what they’re giving, so nobody doubles up and nothing gets spoiled.

My List in Dorea: a gift list with photos, prices, and the store each item comes from.
A family member’s list, with one gift already claimed by the viewer and others ready to claim or split.
How it works

Three steps, and the surprise stays a surprise.

Make your list

Paste a link from any store and the photo, title and price fill themselves in. Add a note for the size, the color, or “anything by this author.”

Share it with your circles

Invite your side of the family, your in-laws, your friends. Everyone in a circle sees each other’s lists, and nobody outside it does.

Claim it quietly

Tap “I’ll get this” and it’s yours to give. Everyone else sees it’s taken. The person it’s for never finds out who, or what you paid.

What’s inside

Everything a family needs to give well.

Shown here with the Carters, a demo family: two circles of relatives, a circle of friends, a household with two kids, and a year of birthdays.

Any store

Every gift, from wherever it’s sold.

A big-box store, a bookshop, an Etsy maker you found at midnight: if it has a web page, it can go on your list. Paste the link and Dorea fills in the rest.

  • Notes, priorities and quantities for the details that matter.
  • Tracking codes are stripped from the links you paste.
  • Choose who sees each item, circle by circle.

Claiming

Claim a gift. Keep the surprise.

Everyone’s list is a photo gallery, sorted into what’s yours, what’s still open, what’s spoken for and what’s been given. Tap a gift for its notes, the link to the store, and everything you can do with it: claim it, split it, or mark it bought for an occasion.

On your own list, a claimed gift shows only a padlock. You never see who, or what they paid. That isn’t a setting you could switch off. It’s how the database is built.

  • A claim holds a gift for 48 hours while you decide, then quietly lets go.
  • Filter any list down to what’s available, what’s yours, or what’s been given.
  • “Tell me when a new gift is added” gets you there first.

Circles & households

Who you shop for, and who you shop with.

A circle is a group that shares lists: your side of the family, your spouse’s, your friends. Belong to as many as you like.

A household is the people you live with. It gives you one shared picture of who’s already covered, so you and your partner don’t both buy for the same nephew, while the gifts you’re getting each other stay hidden.

Three circles: Carter Family, Hayes Family and Friendsgiving.

Kids

Lists for the kids, without accounts for the kids.

Keep a list for each child you look after. Every guardian sees the whole picture, including who has claimed what, so two parents never buy the same thing.

  • Children pick an illustrated animal character. There’s no way to upload a child’s photo.
  • Invite a co-parent or grandparent as a co-guardian.
  • Their birthdays land on everyone’s calendar automatically.

Lily is seven. Her parents can see what’s spoken for and what’s been given, and tap any gift to see who.

Upcoming

Every birthday, anniversary and holiday, a year ahead.

Upcoming gathers the dates of everyone in your circles into one calendar, and shows at a glance whether each person is taken care of. Tick them off as you go.

  • Heads-ups three weeks and one week out, by email or push.
  • Christmas, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day, and your own dates.
  • Quiet hours, a pause button, and as much or as little as you want.
Upcoming: the next birthdays and anniversaries across the family, with who has a gift already.
Splits

Go in on the big one together.

Ask a circle, or a few specific people, to split a gift with you. Spots fill first come, first served, and the request stays open for four days.

  • Money never passes through Dorea. Contributors pay you back by Venmo, PayPal or Cash App.
  • Your handles are shown only to people who said yes.
  • The person it’s for can’t see the split at all.

Gifts that grow

For the gifts that don’t come in a box.

Add a child’s college fund or savings account to their list. Anyone in their circles can contribute directly, record what they gave, and see it add up. Nobody has to claim it, and nobody doubles up.

After the day

Make sure nothing went missing.

A couple of weeks after a birthday or holiday, Dorea asks the person who received the gifts a simple question: did this one arrive? If something didn’t, the giver gets a private check-in. Nobody else ever knows.

Privacy

Private by design, not by setting.

Dorea holds some of the most personal information a family has: birthdays, children, and what everyone is quietly planning for each other. We treat it that way.

No ads, no trackers

There is no advertising and no analytics or ad SDK anywhere in Dorea.

Never sold

We don’t sell, rent or trade anyone’s information, to anyone, for any reason.

Only your circles

Your list is visible to people in a circle with you, and nobody else. It isn’t public or searchable.

No photos of children

Children are shown as illustrated characters. There is no way to upload a child’s photo.

How Dorea stays free

Free, and staying that way.

We never want a subscription standing between a family and something this useful. So Dorea is free, and it’s paid for by affiliate commission, and nothing else.

When you open a link on someone’s list and buy the item, the store may pay us a small referral commission out of the marketing budget it already spends. That commission pays for the servers, the database and the reminder emails, so no family ever has to be charged.

  • Your price never changes. Checkout costs the same with or without it.
  • It’s always labeled. Any link that can earn a commission says “Paid link” right next to it.
  • Nothing is steered. We never add, reorder or promote items, and never swap the store someone chose.

Our story

Dorea means “gift.”

Dōrea (δωρεά) is the New Testament Greek word for a gift given freely, with nothing expected back. It’s the word Paul reaches for when ordinary words run out:

Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift

2 Corinthians 9:15

That’s the spirit we built Dorea in.

Dorea started in our own home, somewhere between growing wish lists, family group texts, and the beautiful chaos of raising a young family. We loved giving gifts, but we realized the process of coordinating them was making something meaningful feel unnecessarily complicated.

As parents, we wanted a simpler way for families to share ideas, stay connected, and give thoughtfully—so we decided to build it ourselves. Dorea was created by our family, for families like ours, with the hope of making giving feel a little more intentional and a lot less complicated.

Every family deserves a simple, private way to give well, without their information being harvested or an ad competing for their attention along the way.

Questions

Good questions.

Is Dorea really free?

Yes, and it always will be. There’s no subscription and no premium tier. Dorea is paid for by small affiliate commissions from stores when someone buys a gift through a list, which never changes the price anyone pays.

Who can see my list?

Everyone in a circle with you, and nobody else. Your list isn’t public and isn’t searchable. If you leave a circle, its members stop seeing your list.

Can I see who is getting me something?

No, and that’s on purpose. You’ll see that an item has been claimed, but never who claimed it or what they paid. The database enforces this; there’s no setting that turns it on.

Can my spouse see what I’m getting them?

No. Your household shares one picture of who’s covered across the rest of the family, but gifts for people inside your own household stay hidden from each other.

Do my kids need an account?

No. A parent or guardian keeps a child’s list for them, with no login, and every guardian in the household can manage it.

Does it work with any store?

Any store with a web page. For most stores, pasting a link fills in the photo, title and price automatically. For the few that block that, you add the details yourself and the link still works.

Do the people I shop for need Dorea too?

To share lists with you, yes: they join one of your circles with an invite link. They can use Dorea right in any web browser, with nothing to download.

Do you sell my data?

Never. We don’t sell, rent or trade personal information, and there are no ads or analytics trackers in Dorea. Our privacy policy explains exactly what we store and why.
